I reckon the first panel is a little cheesy in composition, but there’s no harm in indulging some cheesy moments and cliches once in a while. Plus it was one of the only ways I could get the speech bubbles to line up in the correct order with the characters. So maybe it was meant to be!

I am always bemused at the differences between Brit and Yank slang, and the pitfalls therein. >>
I use a lot of Brit slang daily but most of it is northern rather than southern – which often presents a new set of problems when writing this comic, ha xD
The first panel works. In any case a reader’s eyes are immediately drawn to the right.
Remember, us non-artists don’t stare at things as intently as you artists do.
Glad it works! And I guess you’re right – if you’re not noticing anything too distinct in my artist choices, then at least it means I’m not making any mis-steps or mistakes! 🙂
